What Type Of Wind Chime Is Best For You?
Some people like the sound wood or bamboo chimes make while others like the unique sound metal can only give. Here are some questions to ask yourself before making your purchase that can save you a lot of time and headache down the road.
- Do you like tropical type sounds and décor?
- Do you like melodic sounds rather than random notes?
- Do you like deeper tones or higher tones?
- Where will you hang them?
- How loud do you like them?
- What is your décor theme?
The answer to question #1 is important because this will help you determine whether to look for bamboo or wood chimes as compared to the metal versions. Bamboo is typically used in tropical décor so an addition of a bamboo wind chime can only add to your theme. In addition the sound of bamboo in the wind can give you the feeling of lying on a hammock in a tropical resort while the trade winds blow through.
The answer to question #2 is critical because if you don’t like random notes blowing in the wind then the chime won’t be as relaxing to you. In this case you may want to go with tuned wind chimes that are professionally tuned to your liking. These can be a bit more expensive but there are some great deals to be found. Think of the notes you like; that brings us to question #3. If you like deeper tones then you may want one that has larger tubes. The smaller tubes will generally give you the higher tones.
Question #4 is something you can answer after you get them and is not as important to the pre purchase as some of the others but you may want to give it some thought before making your choice. If you’re going to be hanging them closer to the house you may want to consider the volume of the sound it produces which brings us to question #5. Typically the larger chimes will produce a louder volume than the smaller ones so if you’re placing them in your garden decor away from the area you relax in you may want to go with a larger model. This all depends on the level of volume that is desired by you.
Question #6 is probably the most obvious of them all and with all the thousands of styles available you are sure to find one that matches your theme. If your theme is tropical generally the bamboo or wooden chimes work the best although there are many tropical style metal wind chimes that will fit in with tropical décor. If you’re going southwestern there are many types of terra cotta wind chimes that will appeal to your eye.
These are just a few questions you can ask yourself prior to making your purchase. There is one to fit every décor and personality so the choice you make can be critical in your enjoyment. Really look at the dimensions of the product you are buying and determine if it’s right for your space or if you need to go larger or smaller. All in all you can’t go wrong as long as you get the wind chime that appeals to you in sound and sight.
