Everyone is entitled to feel safe in their home or to feel that their business is secure. Unfortunately, rising crime rates make it necessary for us to take precautions to protect ourselves and our possessions. The most common surveillance security camera in use today world wide is the dome camera. They are used in many places including retail stores, restaurants, airports, hotels, casinos and apartment buildings for surveillance and business security.
The reason they are so popular is because of their shape they are less susceptible to vandalism. A plus is they are generally very inexpensive.
They are used for home security too.
Dome cameras are simply board cameras built into a dome shaped housing. There are several types like day-night domes equipped with high-power infrared LEDs for use indoors, outdoors and low-light conditions.
A day/night feature takes the camera pictures in color in the day light and then automatically switches to black and white in low light conditions. The LEDs in the cameras allow the cameras to see in complete darkness.
There is a vandal-proof dome camera also known as an armor dome. Armor dome cameras are built with protective casing that can withstand the whack of a hammer or other attempts to disable it. The armor dome camera is weatherproof.
There are models with varifocal lenses. It is a dome with a Sony Super HAD CCD chip with an auto iris 4~9mm manual zoom lens built in. There are dip switch controls to adjust the camera to different settings which makes it a very flexible tool.
Size is also a consideration when selecting surveillance products. Dome cameras can be as small as three inches. It is their shape that makes them fit into surroundings so well.
