How do unclog the drain pipe for my air conditioner unit when it has 2 right angles in it?
The drain comes out the side of the drip pan and runs about 9″ to a right angle, then runs about 12″ to the 2nd angle, then runs about 6″ to a T which leads to the vent pipe and should drain down. Have to fix this fast because the unit is in my attic and will ruin the ceiling if it overflows
All the answers are pretty good.
What I do is use a shop vac at the drain first. Try to suck the clog out and hope it’s that easy. Cover the nozzle so that all of the vacuum pressure is used against the drain line. A 3/4 nozzle attachment from the smaller sized vacs works the best
If not, take the shop vac up to the attic. Remove the drain line from the pan and put the vac on blow mode. Probably remove the water in the pan, first.
If it’s still not working, pour the bleach and water in the line and wait for 30 minutes and then blow it out or suck it out again.
Still not draining? You will have to buy some pvc couplings and and adhesive and primer and a hacksaw. Cut the line, around the second angle and use the shopvac there. Then, prime and glue in the coupling.
