keyboard mixer and modules buzzing?
I have had my Yamaha HX 1 for many years now. I decided to fit some modern and vintage sound expanders/module and linked them to the organ with a vintage Yamaha KM 802 stereo mixer.The problem is that when I have them all set up within reach next to the organ the mixer and some of the modules give off a buzzing sound, with the speakers and in the headphones.The modules and mixer all sit on top of one of the speakers but even with it switched off it still buzzes in the headphones. The modules are also connected to the organ by midi through a midi box.How can I stop the buzzing and use them all together?
This sort of problem can be a nightmare to solve. Make sure everything is plugged into the same socket to avoid earth loops (plug everything into a plug-board plugged into a single socket). A Speaker contains a magnet which can cause electrical interference even if the speaker is switched off – try moving everything away from the speaker. make sure you’ree using good quality leads and there are no earth connections missing. See if the buzz stops when you touch any bare metal parts (e.g. module case (if metal) or the barrel of any jack plugs (if metal). Good luck!
