kidde carbon monoxide alert???

i cant find out how to turn off the stupid thing or if it is alerting us!

The red light indicates a problem, either with the unit probably the battery, or a defective unit. Take it outside and it it stops doing it they its reading you have CO in the location inside. Then open the windows and test inside again, if its clear close the window and wait a while then turn on the unit, if you get a red light and it buzzes then you have contamination.
