Circular Motion. Newton’s Second Law. HELP?
A bolt is threaded onto one end of a thin horizontal rod, and the rod is then rotated horizontally about its other end. An engineer monitors the motion by flashing a strobe lamp onto the rod and bolt, adjusting the strobe rate until the bolt appears to be in the same eight places during each full rotation of the rod. The strobe rate is 2000 flashes per second; the bolt has mass 25 g and is at radius 3.9 cm. What is the magnitude of the force on the bolt from the rod?

I assumed the rod is 3.9cm long and the bolt was threaded in until the center of mass of the bolt was at the end of the rod and that the rod was spun around its end with the bolt at said radius, I guess to test how well the threads hold. You will want to check my work, it has been a while since I have done this.

v = 2 * pi * r * c
v = 2 * 3.14159 * 0.039m * 250/s
v = 61.261m/s
acceleration:
a = v^2 / r
a = (61.261m/s)^2 / 0.039m
a = 146.36m/s^2
mass:
m = 25g
m = 0.025kg
force:
f = m * a
f = 0.025kg * 146.36m/s^2
f = 3.659N
