ccd camera records 1:12 minutes and is 1GB?
so I took out my telescope and recorded a mostly black video of the moon last night, and it came out great, but the video is 1GB in size. I’m assuming that it is in some “raw” format that uses no compression. What is a FREE way to get this file compressed to something like under 30mb. I have to believe it can be done. the whole video is black and white and is under a minute and a half.
Did you use a digital Camera, or a digital Cam Corder to VIDEO record your telescope’s images?
Read the appropriate digital device’s User Manual. then, decide whether to take a Video or Still images. Stills make more sense, and you really do have a lot to learn….
The User Guide will tell you exactly what file format the device supports, and how large the files will be. And, just so you know, 1.2 GB sounds about right for most HD video captures. Choose Standard Definition, and 640 X 480, to 1024 to 768, WMV files, if your digital device supports them, for way smaller file sizes.
