ID Card Printers – Their Requisite Attributes
Different manufacturers have different ideas and designs of ho ID card printers should perform. They are used for this purpose and the best for making ID cards using hid proximity cards have the following attributes:
1. Some printing processes are so advanced that they can print on uneven sides of cards. One process is called the direct to card printing that utilizes the dye sublimation for color printing and thermal wax transfer for monochrome. This dye sublimes using CMYK colors that are passed over by print heads.
But there is another process that does even better in terms of resolution. Especially on an uneven surface. This technology is known as reverse image technology. This process involves the printing of a reverse image on the underside of a high definition printing film (HDP), which is then fused on the surface of the card.
There are two good examples of printers that accomplish this task of printing on uneven side. The first is the Fargo HDP5000. The second is the Zebra ZXP series 8. Zebra does this on two sides simultaneously. Both ID card printers produce high quality color and monochrome images.
2. They are even able to laminate ove the edge of the card. This does help with tampering. Laminating over the edge is a feature that enhances security against tampering. In the event the card has been tampered with, it will be apparent as a thin line will appear at the side whih is the border of the print surface area.
3. Data is encoded onto the RFID chips. Printers of this kind in the market are capable of directly encoding data with a printer that has the same module that is in the application. That module should be specific to the chip in the hid prox card.
4. Each card and encoder is specific to the location and company. All these printers do vary in function and capability. For every business size, a card printer should be suited especially as regards to the required volume of card output the company requires.
Small to medium sized businesses require smaller capacity printers; big businesses or organizations require of course large capacity hardware.
Also, multiple users and/or multiple locations require Ethernet connectivity that allows access to not only to printer but also to the centrally located database from which the data on an employee who will be issued a hid proximity card are stored.
Conclusion
The Fargo Printers and Zebra Printers are the leaders of the pack. They are best suited for a wide array of circumstances and provide dynamic security. To make a difference, you need to have a proficient understanding of ID card printers and the hid proximity card before you implement it.
