I wrecked a phillips screw head, can service dept help me?
I wrecked the phillips screw head on the darn screw that holds the wire for the stator. I need to get this screw out. If I took it to the local Yamaha dealer service dept, do you think they could get the screw out without stripping the threads in the engine cover? Or am I scr-wed?
I’m sure they can. 2 ways to deal with this problem.
1) a reverse drill bit will drill into and try to spin out the screw.
2) you can carefully cut a slot into the head of the screw with a hack saw blade or a dremel wheel and use a flat head screw driver head on an impact driver.
