History of bonsai – The Correct History of the Dwarfed Trees

It is exciting to discuss about the history of bonsai, the delightful dwarfed plants that you grow in your garden. It is quite shocking to find that people now like having and planting bonsai, that basically they don’t even know the history of bonsai. The long journey of the history has changed these weirdly styled trees that become well-known now. So, you have to check out what happen with the history of bonsai in the past.

The Pun-sai

When it talks to the history of bonsai, of course what is in your mind is Japan. Though Japan has the perfect role in the history of the Bonsai tree, historians trust that the first culture of growing minimized trees was made in China. Historians also believe that the appeal of the Bonsai tree put in the pot grown tree which was so gnarled and bare of leaves. Then it built the potted tree looked more like a medieval animal then a tree. This gnarled styles has built a Bonsai garden become the best place to sit and to tell fairytales. These cultivated small potted trees in China were called Pun-sai.

The Kamakura Period

The History of bonsai in Japanese portion started during the Kamakura Period. As you look at history book, the Kamakura period began when Buddhism rapidly spread out in Asia that lasted from 1135- 1333. After that, Japan adopted Chinese culture to cultivate dwarfed trees in pots. Hence, the new face of history of bonsai went along.

The history of bonsai went along; the Japanese weren’t satisfied to grow a few oddly stylesd trees of uncertain species. They wanted also their pretty and ornamental trees to also be potted. At first some people can only see the small gnarled trees in the gardens of Buddhist temples. But as the history of Bonsai tree evolved, the bonsai trees slowly appeared in the gardens that were possessed by aristocrats and royalty. At the last of the Kamakura period, the history of bonsai enlarged with the planting of Bonsai trees that was called as a appreciated Japanese art.

Time Passes

A little change in the history of bonsai tree took place several centuries after the Kamakura period finished. It was still trusted as a symbol of Japanese culture. It was generally found in gardens while some of the aristocrats often took their small potted trees inside for short periods of time. Sometimes throughout the 17th or 18th century the Bonsai tree has been specially taken care that found as a lavish thing that only the very wealthy or religious temples could afford. But then it found its way into the gardens of the lower class.

In the middle of 19th century, a large change took place in the history of Bonsai. It was the time when Westerners were allowed to enter Japan. For the first time on that century, travelers are able to respect the unique beauty of the Bonsai tree. It was shocking that then these miniature trees were even shown in the 1900 World Fair that was held in Paris.

Nowaday, bonsai trees in a bonsai garden can be easily found in almost every house all over the world, not only in China or Japan. So, the history of bonsai will be an exciting  thing to be told to your next generation.
