What is a good brand of wireless transmitter for guitar?
I have been playing guitar for 6 or 7 years now and I am looking to upgrade to wireless so I don’t have cables dragging around everywhere. What are some good brands of wireless transmitter? I have heard good things about Samson and Nady but other than that I don’t have a clue. And lastly would you recommend wireless? Does it cut down on good signal or does it sound as good as if you were cabled? Thanks!
Having played professionally, I do agree with Daniel K that wireless gear can be a source of audio headache – especially when multiple musicians show up with similar gear, using the same channels. But when different channels are used, good wireless gear, in the right spectrum, can provide you what you want.
Shure, Audio Technica and Sennheiser are definitely acceptable. UHF is best. This goes for vocal and instrument wireless systems. I like using wireless gear because it keeps the stage safe (fewer wires reduces tripping potential). Unless some sort of interference is picked up, you can’t tell the difference between use of wireless equipment or cabled. ALWAYS carry cables just in case you end up in a place that you just can’t get past the interference.
I would not touch Samson or Nady (not even their UHF stuff).
